Comfort a word that feels safe
Like something that makes you feel loved or warm
Something you go back to for happiness
Something you look forward too
Something that can be good or bad
But what if it’s bad
Like you
What if the only reason you go back to it is because it brings you comfort
Then the word comfort isn’t very safe
Why look forward to or go back to something that brings you down
Why can something so toxic make you feel comfort
Because we are used to it
Because maybe it’s the love we think we deserve
But why go back to it?
Maybe because we think things will be different again
Or because we can’t leave what brings us comfort
Or because it reminds us of ourselves
We go back to them to be healed yet broken at the same time
Them comfort isn’t really a comfort word
It 's more like you.
